Drew Estate is the company behind the Acid line of cigars and they have carried their motto - The Rebirth of Cigars - to a T. Adding to the blue label Remi line, the Acid Deep Dish is an exciting and unique rendition similar to the Kuba Kuba but carrying a box press and a different band, of course. While box press cigars may not be in everyones preferred vitola, Acid decided that this specific way of creating the cigar not only 'adds to the cigar' but helps to bring out the flavors and appeal of the cigar itself. Onto the review!
I have never had an issue with an Acid cigar's constriction, and the Deep Dish is no exception. Evenly packed from head to foot, the head clipped with very little effort, the foot took to flame just as it should and the burn was thin and straight. Even for an infused cigar - its hard not to talk about how nice this cigar is.
As with all of the Acid line - the flavors are 'infused' which is a process by which the tobacco is immersed into the floral and botanicals that give these cigars their recognizable smell and flavor. That being said, the sweet and floral notes that the Kuba Kuba is famous for comes right out the gate - but is aided by a light nutty and leather flavor that really brought the bitter/sweet sensation to the foreground. Not much of a variation in flavors - although the last third of the cigar carried less sweetness and more of the nuts and leather.
Even those who work at Acid have been quoted saying "you either love them or hate them" in respect to infused cigars. While I am not a die hard fan of them, I still find myself gravitating towards them for a great change of pace or a little nostalgia run. If you are looking at getting into cigars but the 'dark, stinky cigar' persona still keeps you a step away, use the Acid Deep Dish to help you bridge that gap! Great construction, exceptional and rich flavors all combined with an amazing price that only BuyDiscountCigars.com can offer and you have a cigar that is a box purchase without question!
