Lately I have been "shopping around" for a new everyday smoking cigar. I have been smoking the same brand for many years, and it has gotten "stale". Time for something new. Now, I am not the richest man on earth, so I am looking for something that smokes well, is enjoyable, and won't make me miss the house payment. I can spring a couple of dollars for each cigar, but no more than say $5.
I tried a number of brands, some descent yet unmemorable, some that were just plain awful, and others that I can't see myself smoking more than once. I tried online shops and tobacco/cigar stores, and just couldn't settle on one brand for several weeks. Just as I was about to give up, I ordered some Rigoletto Black Jack Cigars from www.buydiscountcigars.com, and well, things changed.
First off, they were on my doorstep literally 3 days after I ordered them! I have not seen that fast of shipping before, so kudos the team at www.buydiscountcigars.com. The package was well wrapped and taped up, and once I opened it and got a look at the Rigoletto Black Jack Cigars I wasn't impressed. The package itself was that weird off-yellow and brown color that so many cigar makers use (Why on God's earth do they use that ugly color so much?!?), so my expectations dipped a bit.
The Rigoletto Black Jack Cigars are USA made (Tampa, Florida to be exact), and are a combination of tobacco from the Domincan Republic (one of my favorites) and a Connecticut Maduro Wrapper. For a machine made cigar, they are quite attractive and well put together. They are a decent sized cigar at 5 3/8 x 46, and had a nice nose to them.
Lighting was quite easy, with a torch lighter and a few good puffs we had a nice burn going and the smoke was coming along very nicely. This was my favorite part by far. The smoke was ample, had good volume, but no heat in the throat. It has a complex, yet not complicated flavor, and had all the characteristics I have grown to love about Dominican Republic tobacco. I swear it must be the warm year-round sun, because I sometimes joke that I can taste the sunshine in the tobacco.
I was looking for a nice, well-priced, everyday smoking cigar, and I finally found it in the Rigoletto Black Jack Cigar. I recommend everyone give it a go if they are looking for something under $5 that is worth smoking.
