Today we are going to try a newcomer to the cigar world, but certainly a brand well-known in the smoking community for many smoker's products, Zig Zag, and their Zig Zag Cigarillo. As you probably know, the make fantastic rolling papers, smoking accessories, loose tobacco, and many other items that are seen in convenience stores and tobacco shops across America. But, how will their Zig Zag Cigarillo stack up?
The packaging for these Cigarillo 2 packs is fantastic. It is artful, colorful, well-designed and just overall very appealing in every sense. They really knocked it out of the park as far as giving it a young and hip feel that contrasts many of the more serious and boring looks you usually associate with cigars. This is a welcome change of pace, and even if it is not for everyone, it shows that the industry is growing, adjusting, and evolving to suit modern tastes. That can never be a bad thing as a whole, and I for one find the unique look refreshing, but a bit jarring.
The Zig Zag Cigarillo's come in a dizzying number of flavors, and many are common flavors for cigars, such as grape, sweet and strawberry, but new flavors like Mango enter the mix. I elected to try the Peach, as I always enjoy the flavor and just think Peach is well-suited for tobacco and is often one of the milder flavors. Of course there is also a "Sweets" variety and a regular, which is interestingly and edgily branded "straight up".
The Zig Zag Cigarillo peach flavor is quite appealing, the smoke is pleasant, and I would say the overall quality is not too far from Swish Sweets, Phillies, and other similar brands that offer flavored Cigarillos, but I do think the Zig Zag seem to be slightly superior in quality and flavor, and definitely have a stronger flavoring to them. If you prefer very subtle flavor when it comes to flavored cigars and cigarillos, then they may not be for you. However, if you enjoy very forward and pleasing flavors, Zig Zag Cigarillos are certainly worth trying.
